Is Basie Skanks Really Dead on Greenleaf?

The last time that the audience saw Basie was at the end of season 3.  He and his sister Rochelle were seen being chased in a car by a guy who Basie owed a gambling debt to.  We end up seeing Rochelle again in season 5, but not Basie. 

We find out this season in episode 2 that Basie is dead.  Tasha tells Jacob that the police called her and told her that Basie had been killed. 

Even after Tasha stated that Basie was dead, I still expected him to show up at some point alive and well.  Greenleaf is basically a soap opera and since the audience did not see Basie die on screen, the possibility of him being alive definitely cross my mind. 

Basie never did make another appearance on Greenleaf and there were a lot of things that were going on with his family that if he were alive would have warranted his return.

I am still not 100 percent sure that Basie is dead.  Basie could always pop back up alive and well in the upcoming spin-off and start stirring up the drama in the new show.
